A respected asset and vehicle finance company are currently looking for an individual to join them and as a (trainee) credit underwriter.

This company provide regulated consumer hire and credit agreements alongside being specialists in re-financing, assisting clients in releasing capital from their existing capital. Offering a personal and flexible approach to a full spectrum of UK based businesses, from new start companies to well-established organisations and HNW individuals.

The position will be responsible for underwriting and signing off credit applications made to the business, in conjunction with the directors/head of credit.

What will the role involve?

  • Assisting the sales support team to construct deals for underwriting
  • Compliance with the rules and consideration of the guidance in CONC 5, creditworthiness assessments and treating the customer fairly
  • Reviewing and assessing credit applications made to the business on a daily basis
  • Identifying and challenging credit proposal and ensuring the risks to the business are minimised
  • Direct contact with the sales team including regular feedback on the types of credit applications the business is looking to write and those the business wishes to avoid
  • Analysis and interpretation of bank statements and other accounting information
  • Assessment of all other financial data, security evaluations and the strengths or weaknesses of the directors guarantees to arrive at a balanced view of the risk/reward equation to enable a commercial decision to be made

Suitable Candidate:

  • Strong analysis skills along with a good level of commerciality
  • Basic understanding of Company accounts, management accounts and security analysis
