An established and respected insurance company is currently looking for an experienced commercial insurance schemes development underwriter for their regional office in Reading.

This insurer has a global insurance brand and employ over 5000 people across the UK. Their teams care for a huge range of customers helping them protect themselves from a wide range of losses due to life's uncertainties.

The commercial lines income of this insurer looks to achieve an annual income of around £1bn GWP from its intermediaries. Focusing on profitable business the network is responsible for sales, servicing and trading for all intermediary customers.

In this position you will take responsibility for delivery of the planned financial results through effective underwriting of cases, regular schemes reviews, including profitability, analysis of referrals, claims and BDX data, sales and retention data. You will identify and investigate reasons for poorly performing schemes making recommendations for actions to improve. Active improvement of profitability by mentoring others to conduct key actions agreed with brokers to deliver account performance. You will enable new deals by creating new wordings and guides and complete due diligence.

To be successful in your application you will need significant development underwriting experience with a preference for those who have focused on construction and/or liability insurances. Progress towards CII alongside a degree is desirable. Active recent experience in handling and building broker relationships is key alongside decision making in a variety of technical underwriting scenarios.
