A large respected insurance company is currently looking for an experienced commercial insurance underwriting manager for their regional office in Southampton.

Disciplined underwriting approach and prudent risk selection across all types of business the mission is to provide insureds with superb coverage and claims handling through careful and diligent underwriting of risks and business-friendly solutions.

In this position you will take responsibility of the underwriting teams building technical excellence ensuring underwriting and pricing strategies are applied and evidenced appropriately whilst achieving profit and income targets. Acting as the key referral point in a branch where the Regional Underwriting Manager is not based and therefore being the ultimate referral point for technical underwriting decisions to determine the desirability of accepting or rejecting risks and ensuring exposures are priced appropriately. You will develop solutions for complex underwriting problems within authority and risk appetite.

Key requirements for this position revolve around your existing experience of portfolio management, broker relationships, ability to motivate and lead teams, understanding of the insurance market and processes, technical underwriting expertise, experience in decision making on a wide range of technical underwriting scenarios within a commercial environment.

Successful applications are sought from individuals with a high level of commercial insurance underwriting knowledge, knowledge of regional brokers and market conditions, business planning and strategy development.

ACII and/or degree is desirable/preferred.
