CMA Recruitment Group is currently representing a well-respected Financial Services organisation in Southampton with the recruitment of a VAT Accountant, on a permanent basis.

Our client is a highly successful Group currently going through an exciting period of transformation. They offer a 35 hour working week, 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, 10% pension contribution, life assurance, private medical insurance and income protection.

The VAT Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day management of the UK VAT Group with the support of the Head of Tax. The role will primarily focus on management of the UK VAT compliance cycle, dealing with ad-hoc VAT technical queries from the business and managing the VAT relationship with HMRC and other external VAT advisors.

Key responsibilities will include:

Managing, with the support of the Head of Tax, the VAT Group compliance cycle;

Calculating 'reverse charge' VAT liability in respect of all overseas supplies;

Producing the quarterly UK VAT Group Return;

Calculating the annual partial exemption and capital goods scheme adjustments and ensuring business units are aware of changes to VAT recovery rates and budgetary impacts;

Producing the Irish VAT returns and oversight of non-UK indirect taxes;

Monitoring, managing and reconciling VAT control accounts ensuring that VAT payments/refunds are appropriately recorded;

Liaise with Treasury to arrange quarterly intra-group VAT settlements and ensure that VAT payments on Account are paid when due;

Other duties as required.

Applicants will ideally be ACA, ACCA, ATT or CTA qualified with detailed knowledge & experience of VAT, ideally within the Financial Services sector.
