CMA Economic Breakfast Meeting with HSBC

Will April be the cruellest month for the UK economy? A much anticipated US tariff announcement, increased National Insurance and National Living Wage costs and a raft of rises in household bills suggest it will be a challenging one to say the least. How households and companies cope will be key to the second half of the year and beyond. So please join us as we look at the early evidence – and what it might mean for growth, inflation, jobs and interest rates.

This session will be led by Liz Martins, Senior UK Economist at HSBC.  She has over 20 years’ experience in analysing economies and markets, having begun her career specialising in emerging markets in London, before joining HSBC in Dubai to cover 14 Middle Eastern and North African economies. She transferred to HSBC’s European team in London in 2014, and has taken the lead on the team’s coverage of the UK economy since 2016, navigating everything from Brexit to Budgets to the Bank of England.
