Brief

The Training Room (“TTR”) is one of the UK’s leading provider of training services. Having identified a gap in the market, this entrepreneurial company had grown rapidly and needed an experienced Group Finance Director in order to guide the company through a period of significant change, in addition to securing external funding to support further growth plans.

Search Parameters

CMA took time to understand the specific requirements of the role and TTR’s corporate culture in order to provide a tailored list of suitable candidates. One of the challenges associated with this particular search mandate was identifying a candidate with the breadth of experience required to lead a diverse range of commercial projects, as well as sufficient presence to achieve backing from both internal and external stakeholders, in a short period of time.

CMA compiled a shortlist of immediately available candidates that met TTR’s specific requirements, all of which were selected by the company to participate in a two stage interview process. CMA coordinated this process, providing structured feedback and guidance, culminating in a final meeting with the Group CEO. The successful candidate joined TTR just three weeks after our initial instruction.

Having fitted seamlessly into the role, the Group Finance Director partnered with the CEO and delivered a number of business critical projects. Not only have the projects been delivered successfully, but a number of other significant improvements to capability and quality have been made across other areas of the business, as well as to those made in finance.
