CMA Executive is incredibly excited to be the retained and exclusive partners for the permanent appointment of a new CFO for a growth oriented, commercially driven Publicly listed company. The Group Plc’s primary activity is the development of its fast-growing business in bioplastics. Building on 20 years of development activity the company is listed on AIM London Stock Exchange and had a strong revenue growth of 36% in 2023. An international organisation operating in Europe, North America and Asia with Head offices and R&D based in the UK. They are leading the way in the development of cutting-edge, naturally sourced plastics. Their objective is to produce bioplastics that challenge the dominance of petroleum-based polymers and ultimately replace them completely providing a sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative that is 100% biodegradable and compostable.

This critical Board appointment will maintain a forward-looking approach to continuous growth, and an ambitious Chief Financial Officer will be crucial in leveraging the significant progress achieved in recent business cycles.

What will the CFO role involve? 

• Partnership with the CEO and wider Executive Team on delivering growth and ensuring the business is both financially and operationally future proofed;
• Solid forecasting techniques and judgement around appraisal and risk;
• Strong working capital focus – cash orientation, analysis;
• Oversite of all regulatory reporting, requiring technically strong management/stat accounts experience gained from within Plc;
• Building/supporting pricing/demand models with commercial teams;
• Comfortable with the complexities of banking facilities, letters of credits, Forex transactions.

Suitable Candidate for the CFO vacancy:

• Well-rounded CFO with International Plc experience;
• Investor relation skills will be required and the ability to demonstrate experience of sound funding management;
• Fully Qualified Accountant, with a preference for training within a top tier practice;
• Experience of M&A is desirable as well as knowledge of the North American markets;
• The company are looking for someone who has a clear orientation for driving profitable growth;
• A credible and persuasive communicator able to build relationships and chemistry with multiple stakeholders with the willingness to disagree and take very different views as appropriate;
• Able to balance many priorities “spinning plates” with creativity and imagination whilst keeping a focus on the growth goal;
• Educator and developer of others in the team.
