Business Services Group based in Portsmouth, Hampshire, has a requirement for a Financial Accountant to undertake a nine month contract to support in the production of the monthly and annual reporting for the Group.

What will the Interim Financial Accountant role involve?

Reporting to the Group Reporting Manager, the key responsibilities of the position will include:

  • Ownership of accounting and financial reporting and local finance operations activities to ensure that ledgers are accurate and complete at all times;
  • Monthly close activities are performed based on a consistent process that ensures complete and accurate information being submitted to Group on a timely basis;
  • Manage the monthly balance sheet reconciliation process to ensure robust and timely completion, old balances are investigated and resolved, and that the output stands up to scrutiny for audit;
  • Ensure the group control framework is embedded and is operating effectively;
  • Perform tax accounting activities including producing the quarterly VAT return, intrastat accounting, statutory reporting (GAAP and IFRS) and managing the company corporation tax return;
  • Lead the year end process for the preparation of the annual statutory accounts ensuring any external audit queries are resolved;
  • Support with the external Annual Audit preparation.

Suitable Candidate for the Interim Financial Accountant vacancy:

  • Applicants for the position will ideally hold a full accountancy qualification with previous experience of working within a similar role within a large, complex group;
  • The successful candidate will be available on short notice and able to commit to the full duration of the contract.

  • The role will be offered on a 9 month fixed term contract on a hybrid working basis with the successful candidate expected to attend the Portsmouth offices 2 to 3 days a week.
