Founded in 2002, HIPPO offer a range of flexible rubbish removal services and have products stocked in thousands of Britains best known DIY retail stores.  The business also provides unique waste solutions to businesses throughout the country, serving some of the UK’s most iconic organisations and brands.

Having previously worked with CMA Recruitment Group to source a high calibre Finance Director, HIPPO approached CMA on an exclusive basis when their tenured Financial Controller relocated out of area.  This left the business needing a swift recruitment process whilst ensuring they had access to a wide range of candidates.

Search Parameters

With strong staff retention and an excellent management team in place, HIPPO needed to identify a Financial Controller capable of working strategically and acting as Finance Business Partner to the Head Office function while also leading the finance team and delivering a hands-on role.

CMA worked with HIPPO to agree the parameters of the Financial Controller position and utilised extensive knowledge of the local employment market to advise on the skill set, salary range and notice periods of relevant candidates.

Outcome

Once the Financial Controller remit and salary range had been agreed, CMA conducted a broad search before refining and submitting a shortlist of 7 candidates to provide the agreed variety of experience and corresponding salaries.

Having met each candidate for an in-depth registration interview and discussed the role at length prior to CV submission, CMA was able to advise on the skill set, career aspirations and cultural fit of each candidate.  This led to 6 candidates attending 1st interview and 3 being progressed to 2nd stage interview.

When the position was offered to the successful candidate, CMA managed the offer process and maintained contact with both parties during the first 6 months of employment so as to ensure successful onboarding.
