Assistant Accountant

CMA are partnering with an Engineering SME who are seen as market leaders in their field to recruit an  Assistant Accountant on a permanent basis.  The role is newly created due to the continued growth of the business and will join a small  team based in Portsmouth. This role will be the main point of contact for finance and will develop into a Financial Controller role in time. 

What will the Assistant Accountant role involve?

• Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts, cash flow and P+L;
• Purchase ledger including processing, coding and matching of invoices
• Monthly supplier payment run
• Adhoc payments
• Sales ledger
• Bank reconciliation
• Quarterly VAT returns
• Assisting with payroll
• Adhoc duties as required by the wider team.

Suitable Candidate for the Assistant Accountant vacancy:

• Minimum of 2 year’s experience working within finance, ideally as an Assistant Accountant or Accounts Assistant
• Studying towards AAT or equivalent
• Comfortable with working in an SME environment
• Experience of Quickbooks would be advantageous but not essential.
