Assistant Accountant

CMA Recruitment Group is working exclusively with a highly successful SME based on the outskirts of Petersfield to recruit a newly created Assistant Accountant role.

As the business continues to grow, they are looking to strengthen their financial, performance and operational analysis. This is a great opportunity for a bright, enthusiastic individual who enjoys working with numbers, spotting detail and understanding what drives business performance.

The company offers a highly bespoke service to its clients, working closely with them to meet their reporting and fulfilment requirements. This role will play an important part in supporting that delivery, providing accurate analysis and insight across the business.

A finance or business-related degree, along with some practical experience, would be advantageous, although candidates with a strong interest in commercial performance and a willingness to learn will also be considered.

What will the Assistant Accountant role involve?

• Supporting the preparation of management reports and analysing business performance to inform decision-making
• Assisting in period-end activities, including reconciliations and reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance
• Developing and maintaining reporting dashboards and tools using Excel and Power BI to deliver actionable insights
• Conducting data analysis on sales, margins, stock levels, and operational metrics, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities
• Collaborating with teams across the organisation to provide meaningful financial information and supporting continuous process improvements

Suitable Candidate for the Assistant Accopuntant vacancy:

• Strong skills in Excel, including Pivot Tables and formula modelling, with a good grasp of financial data analysis
• Experience working with business systems and a good understanding of financial or operational reporting
• Analytical mindset with an eye for detail and the ability to explain complex data clearly
• Proven organisational skills, capable of managing multiple priorities effectively
• An interest in business performance, operational metrics, and process improvements
