Are you an experienced Financial Controller who enjoys owning the numbers in a small, hands-on SME environment? This business, part of a well-established manufacturing group, is seeking a finance lead to take full responsibility for financial control, cashflow and compliance within its UK operation. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this is a broad role for someone comfortable being the senior finance presence on site and happy operating at this level.

What will the Financial Controller role involve?

  • Full responsibility for financial governance and statutory compliance under UK GAAP / FRS102
  • Production of monthly management accounts, balance sheet control and detailed cashflow forecasting
  • Active management of working capital, including credit control, supplier payments and banking relationships
  • Oversight of stock accounting and inventory valuation within a product-based business
  • Leading budgeting and forecasting processes to support operational decision-making
  • Managing day-to-day finance operations, audit preparation and external stakeholder relationships

Suitable Candidate for the Financial Controller role:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or AAT Level 4)
  • Proven experience in financial control within an SME setting
  • Confident managing cashflow and working capital in a stock or product-led environment (advantageous but not essential)
  • Comfortable in a fully office-based role and content operating at Financial Controller level
